Search Shortcuts

Type a keyword then a space to search one website directly from the Command Panel - no scope switch required.

How It Works

Type a shortcut’s keyword followed by a space, and the Command Panel scopes your query to that site. Typing gh then space searches GitHub; typing yo then space searches YouTube. Whatever you type next is sent straight to that site’s search.

A pill next to the search field shows which shortcut is active. Click the pill (or clear the query back to empty) to leave the shortcut and return to normal search.

Default Shortcuts

Tab as the Alternative Trigger

Press Tab instead of Space to activate a shortcut. Tab is more forgiving - it matches on a close or partial keyword, not just an exact one, so a near-miss like gth can still activate GitHub. Space only activates on an exact keyword match.

Add Your Own

1. Open Preferences - Command Panel
2. Under Website Search Shortcuts, click Add Shortcut
3. Fill in:
   • Keyword - the short trigger you’ll type (no spaces)
   • Website Name - the display name shown in the active pill
   • Search URL - the site’s search URL with the query parameter left dangling (e.g. https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=)
4. Click Save

Your query is appended to the Search URL automatically, so the URL should end right where the search term belongs.

Edit or delete an existing shortcut from the same Website Search Shortcuts list.

Tips

• Keywords can’t contain spaces and must be unique across your shortcuts.
• Search URLs must start with http:// or https://.
