Dock Mode
Pin the sidebar to the screen edge and let your browser resize around it automatically as the sidebar shows and hides.
Enable Dock Mode
- Open Preferences → Sidebar
- Set Sidebar Browser Integration to Independent
- Set When Sidebar Opens to Maximize Browser Window
- Set When Sidebar Hides to Expand Browser to Fill Screen
- Grant Accessibility permission when prompted
Requires Accessibility permission: System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility → SupaSidebar
How It Works
- Docks to the edge - the sidebar stays fixed at the screen edge instead of following the browser window
- Browser fills the gap - when the sidebar opens, your browser resizes to use the remaining space, mimicking the built-in sidebar of a browser
- Browser expands back - when the sidebar hides, the browser automatically returns to full width
- Multi-display aware - works whether the sidebar and browser are on the same screen or different ones
Settings
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| Sidebar Browser Integration | Set to Independent to keep the sidebar pinned to the screen edge. Smart Attach instead moves the sidebar to follow the browser window - a different feature |
| When Sidebar Opens | Set to Maximize Browser Window so the browser fills the space next to the sidebar |
| When Sidebar Hides | Set to Expand Browser to Fill Screen so the browser returns to full width |
Positioning (Independent vs Smart Attach) and the open/hide behavior are independent settings, so you can combine them either way.
See Browser Integration for the full set of Smart Attach options.
Troubleshooting
| Issue | Solution |
|---|---|
| Browser doesn’t resize when sidebar opens | Grant Accessibility permission, confirm Independent + Maximize Browser Window are set |
| Browser doesn’t expand when sidebar hides | Set When Sidebar Hides to Expand Browser to Fill Screen |
| Not working in full-screen apps or Split View | Expected - macOS owns window layout there, so dock behavior is skipped |
| Sidebar seems slow to disappear | Browser windows resize as part of the hide sequence, just before the sidebar itself animates out |
